About us

Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL) is a leading provider of accreditation and related quality improvement services to general practices. 

Established in 1997, AGPAL is a not-for-profit organisation committed to delivering dedicated support services to general practice, medical deputising services, after-hours services, Aboriginal medical services and Royal Flying Doctor services as they work to achieve accreditation, measured against the Standards developed by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

Accreditation is independent recognition that an organisation, program or activity meets the requirements of defined criteria or standards. Accreditation provides assurance for owners, managers, staff, funding bodies and consumers about quality and performance.

AGPAL is committed to providing a simple and effective accreditation program consistent with international best practice. Recognised widely by industry as a quality program, AGPAL accreditation offers general practices performance assurance at the highest level. Accreditation is our core business.

  1. The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care Steering Committee
  2. The RACGPs Standards Liaison Committee

  4. The International Society for Quality Health Care (ISQua) International Accreditation Program Committee.

Thirteen years since inception, AGPAL remains the preferred accreditation provider of the majority of accredited general practices in Australia.

 ISQua accreditation

Consistent with our commitment to quality and accreditation, AGPAL is accredited by theInternational Society for Quality Health Care (ISQua). As an accredited organisation we participate in self-assessment and external evaluation on a regular basis, ensuring our approach to the provision of accreditation and certification services is consistent with international best practice.

Quality in Practice

Our expanding capability has resulted in growth in new markets via our subsidiary company, Quality in Practice (QIP). QIP was established in 2000 to enable us to provide accreditation services across other health and human services environments and professions including diagnostic imaging, physiotherapy and retirement villages.
