Governance
As an organisation governed by ten member organisations, AGPAL has a responsibility to ensure all AGPAL accredited practices are legitimately accredited and recognised by consumers, the Government (both Medicare and the Department of Health and Ageing) and the Standards setting body – the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).
Our member organisations (listed below), continue to be part of our network of quality advocates who support AGPAL in delivering our message throughout the country:
- Australian Association of General Practitioners (AAGP)
- Australian Association of Practice Managers (AAPM)
- Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)
- Australian General Practice Network (AGPN)
- Australian Medical Association (AMA)
- Australian Practice Nurses Association (APNA)
- National Association of Medical Deputising Services (NAMDS)
- Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP)
- Rural Doctors Association of Australia (RDAA)
- Consumer Health Forum (CHF).
Being profession led guarantees that AGPAL remains responsive to marketplace changes and is held accountable by the general practice profession. It also ensures AGPAL is kept up-to-date with relevant and accurate information regarding accreditation and makes ethical decisions which are in the interest of the profession.
It is our purpose to motivate primary health care professionals to make improvements that result in improved quality and outcomes. However, we cannot achieve this alone. AGPAL, together with the support of our ten member organisations, is working in partnership to sustain relevance to general practices and the profession.
