Practice Nurse Incentive Program (PNIP)

What is the Practice Nurse Incentive Program (PNIP)?

Medicare recently launched the PIP Practice Nurse Incentive Program, aiming to encourage general practices in rural and remote areas to employ practice nurses and/or Aboriginal health workers. Included in the PNIP is funding provided to non-accredited practices for becoming accredited.

Practices in urban areas of workforce shortage are also supported through the PIP to employ allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, dieticians and occupational therapists instead of, or in addition to, practice nurses and/or Aboriginal health workers.

2012 is the perfect time for general practices to become accredited with AGPAL, with funding assistance through the PIP Practice Nurse Incentive Program.

Download the AGPAL flyer below about the PNIP.

Read more about the incentive and guidelines on the Medicare website: www.medicareaustralia.gov.au.

If you would like to better understand PNIP, the Australian General Practice Accreditation Network are holding workshops nationally. See the AGPN website for details. There are some excellent PNIP resources also available on the AGPN website.
