AAPM State Practice Manager of the Year Award winners for 2016 announced

It’s that time of year again! The AAPM State Practice Manager of the Year Award winners for 2016 have been announced!

The Australian Association of Practice Managers (AAPM), State Practice Manager of the Year Awards for 2016 have been announced, with five Practice Managers from different states and territory regions recognised for their outstanding contribution to the health care industry.

The AAPM State Practice Manager of the Year Awards aim to recognise the outstanding contributions that Practice Managers make across the general practice, dental, specialist, medical and allied health professions. AGPAL has remained as the major sponsor of the awards for a number of consecutive years and wishes to congratulate and recognise each of our deserving 2016 State Award recipients.

All 2016 State Award recipients are nominated for AAPM’s Practice Manager of the Year Award, to be announced at the 2016 AAPM National Conference Gala Dinner, in Melbourne on Friday 21 October.

Please join us in congratulating the following award winners:

NSW Practice Manager of the Year – Heather Farlow
Heather Farlow was awarded NSW Practice Manager of the Year. Heather is the Practice Manager for a busy practice in Bondi Junction, Sydney. She has been in Practice Management for 15 years and has played a major role in helping with the growth of her practice. Heather has successfully completed a Diploma in Counselling and is well on the way to completing her Diploma in Professional Practice Leadership.

Qld Practice Manager of the Year – Anthea Blower
Anthea Blower was awarded as the 2016 QLD Practice Manager of the Year. Anthea is from the Gold Coast. She is committed to ongoing professional development and has recently achieved Certified Practice Manager status. Anthea is passionate about quality improvement, and has introduced a range of initiatives to enhance the business development and service delivery options for patients.

WA Practice Manager of the Year – Louise Turner
Louise Turner was awarded WA Practice Manager of the Year. Louise, from Geraldton, has been proactive in taking on additional training and professional development to expand her knowledge, regularly undertaken self-directed research on pertinent topics, and has provided training for GPs and Registrars around the importance of the Practice Manager role. She has been an active mentor in her local region and provides ongoing leadership training to her team.

VIC Practice Manager of the Year – Deborah Stidwell
Deborah Stidwell was awarded VIC Practice Manager of the Year for 2016. Deborah manages a large rural practice in central Victoria. She has been successful in growing the practice, gaining many grants to implement local health programs including a pain management clinic and even a gym within the multi-discipline practice.

SA/NT Practice Manager of the Year – Vicki Linden
Vicki Linden has been awarded the SA/NT Practice Manager of the Year Award. Vicki manages a thriving allied health practice which she has helped grow to three clinic locations. She is already planning the direction and growth of the business into the 2020s and has introduced many innovative ideas to improve the patient experience as well as the practice’s bottom line.
