RACGP Standards Update: Small change to the wording of a ‘must’ at GP2.2E

The RACGP has issued notice of a small change in the wording of one of the ‘musts’ included at GP2.2►E: High-risk (seriously abnormal and life-threatening) results identified outside normal opening hours are managed by our practice.
In recognition of the difficulty for GPs to be available at all hours, they have expanded the second ‘must’ point to include provisions for a delegated practitioner to be contacted outside of normal opening hours and not just the practitioner who ordered the investigation. Changes captured in the underline below.
You must:
· have a documented policy that outlines the process for your practice’s management for high-risk results identified outside of normal opening hours
· give diagnostic services the contact details of the practitioner who ordered the investigation or a delegated practitioner or after-hours service.
The RACGP have also created a fact sheet to assist GPs and practice teams in the application of this indicator. The fact sheet has been uploaded to the resources section in the accreditation hub under ‘Standards’ and can also be found via this link.
