CPD points and hours awarded for AGPAL accreditation

Exciting news for Practice Managers and Practice Nurses undergoing or due to undertake AGPAL accreditation.

We are pleased to announce that Practice Managers and Practice Nurses will now be awarded continuing professional development (CPD) points and hours for their involvement in achieving AGPAL accreditation. This means the immense efforts Practice Managers and Nurses invest in their practice’s accreditation will now be recognised thereby supporting the maintenance of professional membership status with AAPM, APNA, the RACGP and ACRRM.

AGPAL is proud to be the only general practice accreditation provider to offer all of these professional development points to our clients.

CPD points for Australian Association of Practice Management (AAPM) Members

AAPM members are now eligible for up to 20 CPD points per accreditation cycle following the achievement of AGPAL accreditation.

Classified as an external educational program, AAPM members are required to log in and use their self-service area of the AAPM website “My Membership” and add the points manually.

In addition, a copy of the practice’s accreditation certificate must be provided to AAPM with a log evidencing the time the Practice Manager has invested into the accreditation process. More information on obtaining AAPM CPD points is available on AAPM’s website or by contacting AAPM directly.

CPD hours for Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) Members

APNA members are now able to claim up to 15 CPD hours for their involvement in the AGPAL accreditation process. APNA require the submission of the practice’s AGPAL Accreditation Certificate, as awarded by AGPAL once accreditation has been achieved.

In addition, APNA require a declaration of the Practice Nurse’s involvement in the accreditation process. Remember to follow the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) guidelines when recording CPD activity.

Further information about the CPD hours for APNA members is available on APNA website here or by contacting APNA directly.

Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) & Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM)

A reminder that GPs are also eligible for up to 15 CPD hours from the RACGP per accreditation cycle, and CPD hours from the ACRRM for their contribution to their practice’s AGPAL accreditation process.

To receive CPD hours, AGPAL submits a report to the relevant member organisation for allocation to the respective general practitioner. Reporting of CPD hours only occurs once the practice has achieved accreditation with AGPAL.

To ensure hours are allocated appropriately, it is essential for each GP to provide their relevant peak body membership number in the ‘Practice Profile’ of your AGPAL accreditation hub, during the self-assessment process. When doing so, it is important for the GP’s name to be spelt correctly, as it appears on their registration details with their peak body.

If you have any confusion about the CPD hours available, please contact your relevant member organisation directly.
