Practice Incentive Program Quality Improvement Incentive delayed for 12 months

The Department of Health has advised the implementation of the Practice Incentive Program Quality Improvement Incentive (PIP QI Incentive) will now be delayed until 1 May 2019.

This will provide the Department with additional time to refine the PIP QI Incentive, consult with stakeholders and plan the implementation of this important initiative.  The delay will also provide general practices with time to prepare.

The changed time frame will mean that the five incentives which were to cease on 1 May 2018, will now continue until 30 April 2019. These incentives are as follows:

  1. Asthma Incentive
  2. Cervical Screening Incentive
  3. Diabetes Incentive
  4. General Practitioner Aged Care Access Incentive
  5. Quality Prescribing Incentive.

The PIP Incentives which will remain unchanged are:

  1. After Hours Incentive
  2. eHealth Incentive
  3. Indigenous Health Incentive
  4. Procedural General Practitioner Payment
  5. Rural Loading Incentive
  6. Teaching Payment.

In the lead up to the implementation of the QI Incentive in May 2019, AGPAL will continue to advise of any  updates on the Practice Incentive Program as details come to hand.
