AGPAL accredited GPs recognised in Queen’s Birthday 2020 Honours

The prestigious Queen’s Birthday Honours is awarded to individuals across Australia in recognition and celebration of their work and dedicated service to our communities, and the AGPAL Group of Companies is delighted!

The presentation of this respected honour coincides with the Queen’s official birthday in June each year.

In an undoubtedly testing year for general practices, recognition in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list is a much-deserved acknowledgment of their tireless efforts and distinguished service to supporting their communities.

The AGPAL Group of Companies would like to extend its congratulations to the following recipients:

  • Mrs Anne Chater, Theodore, QLD –
    Anne is no stranger to awards having been named the AAPM National Practice Manager of the Year in 2019. She has been recognised with an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for her many years of tireless service to the Theodore community in her role as Practice Manager at Theodore Medical.
  • Professor Christine Phillips, O’Connor, ACT –
    Professor Phillips, Medical Director of Companion House Medical Service, has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). This outstanding achievement is recognition of her significant service to medical education, to migrant and refugee health, and to medicine.
  • Dr Gerald Murphy, Mildura, VIC –
    Dr Murphy has worked at Deakin Medical Centre since 1990, and has been awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his service to medicine.
  • Dr Peter Barker, Cohuna, VIC –
    Dr Barker has been a Rural Generalist doctor at Ochre Health Medical Centre Cohuna for more than 35 years and has been recognised for his service to medicine with an Order of Australia Medal (OAM).
  • Dr Sithamparapillai Thava Seelan, Baulkham Hills, NSW –
    Dr Seelan combines his role at Parkview Medical Clinic with his contribution to Western Sydney University as a lecturer and has been awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his service to medicine and to professional colleges.
  • Dr Laurie Warfe, Woorarra West, VIC –
    Dr Warfe has been recognised for service to medicine and to the community in his role at Medical One – Frankston with an Order of Australia Medal (OAM).
  • Dr Safwat Mesiha, Sydenham, VIC –
    Dr Mesiha has been recognised with an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for service to the Coptic Orthodox Church, and to the community. Dr Mesiha is a founder and GP at Sydenham Medical Centre.
  • Dr Walter Patrick Leopold Abhayaratna, Red Hill, ACT –
    Dr Abhayaratna of Canberra Specialist Medical Centre has been awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for service to medicine in the Australian Capital Territory.
